I have encountered a Series 70. 45 auto. Wilson (old style) fixed sights,Amb. safety, Beavertail grip safety, match trigger/hammer,extended ejector, extended slide stop, checkered flat ms. housing, lowered ejection port, dark walnut checkered grips. The work seems to be well executed. The gun is in at least 95% condition. I will take it out to the range Friday and then make an offer to the owner. I never bought anything like this. What are guns like this go for these days? Thank's any info.

ap3572001:

So far as "collectable" value, you lose out making permanent modifications to these pistols. That said, a well-executed custom job on a Colt can still bring a pretty penny, provided you find a buyer who think likewise.

Without pictures & being unable to account for regional price differences (which can vary quite a bit), I'd guess ~$700-bucks is reasonable in the condition you state & provided it shoots well. Ultimately though, your gut will probably tell you what to do. :D
