I need to replace the plunger tube (and all internal parts) on my 1911a1.
Is this something I can do,staking the tube seems to be the biggest problem,or do I need to let a gunsmith do this.

There are special tools needed to stake the tube in properly. I would have it done somewhere, so the tube doesnt get ruined.

As for replacing the internal parts yourself, that depends on your understanding of the gun etc. But we're all here to help..........

Why do you need to replace the plunger tube? That's a rather generic part -- I wouldn't normally think of a plunger tube as an "enhancement."

The Plunger tube and all internal parts "flew" off while I was at the range!!
I just think that since I now have to take my weapon to a smith I might as well upgrade the sights and maybe have a new barrel installed.

Please explain that one...........not sure how all the internal parts can fly off, as they are all internal..............and encased in the frame.

Unless you mean the internals of the plunber tube? This I can see..........

Yup,
That's what happened plunger tube and "its" internal parts flew off during a sighting in process..
Not a big deal, as this is mixamaster that I use as a shooter, so replacing the plunger tube is no big deal.
