I got another AO GI PKZ the other day, since they finally are using the correct slide serrations for GI style.

I was disappointed to find out, however, that the new PKZ is now based on the Series 80 and has a firing pin safety like all of the other AO 1911 models.

Up until this year the PKZ was FPS-free

How does the AO shoot? My friend who owns a shooting range wants to get one for rental.

These are good pistols and shoot consistently and accurately. The GI has combat sights so is limited by that. The other AO's have different sights. but are more costly...still a bargain.

This forum will always favor SA over AO and they may be right...but the AO's work well.

For the record, "this forum" is neutral and doesn't favor any manufacturer. If more forum members favor Springfield over A-O, that's because (a) more members own Springfields than A-Os, and (b) A-O under Kahr has yet to crawl out from under the poor reputation the brand name earned under its previous ownership.

The A-O GI replica and the Springfield GI are priced so close that on any given day at any given gun shop you probably couldn't predict which would be priced lower. So if the A-Os begin to demonstrate reliability and customer service equal to that of Springfield, I would expect forum members to respond accordingly.

At the moment, I think the jury is still out on the new A-Os. I was very pleased when I saw they had "fixed" the slide serrations on the GIs to use the authentic, vertical pattern. Beyond that, I've never held or fired an A-O or a Springfield so I can't offer any comparison.

Sorry for the unclear inference. I certainly meant the members of "this forum" who keep it going with opinions, advice, information, tips, tricks and beefs.
