Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with Dunk-Kit cleaner and lubricate from Cylinder & Slide?

Thanks for your input in advance.

I use it for cleaning after range sessions. I suppose it has some lubricant qualities to it, but I don't rely on that. After dunking and soaking to clean, I dry and lubricate with gun oil and Lubriplate.

I have been using dunk-it for as long as C&S has been selling it. I use it as a final rinse, if you will, after cleaning off all the crud inside the barrel and the rest of the gun with something stronger like Shooters Choice.

I wouldn't rely on Dunkit for your lubrication. It might be enough for a revolver but a semi-auto needs more lube.

What's the greatest thing about Dunkit is that after you haven't used it for a while get another bucket, (I use old Dunkit buckets), make sure it's clean and strain through some of the wife's old nylons. Now, make sure that they are not new ones just hanging out to dry, (God, I never heard the end of that). The nylons trap all the crud and then you have almost new Dunkit.

Hope this helps.

I find it easier/quicker to clean my guns with dunk-kit. I soak the slide and frame and brush a bit with a tooth brush. It does leave alot of oil residue once the solvent has evaporated. I too wipe that off and apply my own lube on reassembly. But I figure the nooks and crannies that I can't reach at least have that light coating of oil from the dunk-kit.

For small parts like extractors, firing pins, firing pin stops, slide stops.....I remove them and place them in a small container with just enough dunk-kit solution to cover them.

I would not just soak in the dunk-kit, hang dry, and go. If I didn't use the toothbrush, my gun would not be clean. But the scrubbing is very light.

I use MPro-7 to clean the barrel separately. The dunk-kit did not clean the bore to my satisfaction.
