View Full Version : Customizing my Officer XS

I have a nice stainless Officer XS model that I would like to have modified. I would like to send it to a smith who could make it absolutely reliable, maybe a little more accurate (but not at a cost to the reliability aspect), add some nice grip checkering, do some gentle edge relief and generally make my pistol a thing of beauty. Money?.......an arm and a leg is OK if necessary but not two arms and two legs! Oh yes, I really don't want to wait two years for the finished product.

The question is who do I send it to and am I asking too much. I was in Tulsa at the gunshow this weekend and fully planned to leave it with Cylinder and Slide but they weren't there. Since I have to SEND it anyway, I thought I'd ask the knowlegable sages here for your opinions. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Bob

Try Bob. He does top notch work and isn't backed up for a year.

Jim Garthwaite in Watsontown PA is who I would send it to, but I'm much closer to Jim than you are. Jim reliability work is excellent, he could da a carry bevel and touch up you would not know from factory work and the last I heard he was not seriously backed up. Just my thoughts, there are many good pistolsmiths out there.

Alan Tillman, in Texas is my prefered one. After all, he is the only US-based gunsmith I've tried, and his work is top noth. Contact details should be in the Home Page, if not PM me.
