It's a Colt, made by Colt's Manufacturing Co.

Colt singular when refering to one, or the singular name brand.

Colts plural when refering to more than one or multiple offerings. Or Colt's as in a possessive to a name brand (I.E. Colt's Combat Commander).

Are you more confused now? :butthead:

Actually, when referring to a particular model, Colt is used as an adjective; e.g., Colt Commander.

On the slide of my Pre-80 Combat Commander it reads:

Colt's Combat Commander

Over the years, Colt's Manufacturing (formerly Colt Patent Firearms Company) has used both Colt and Colt's as rollmarks on their slides. I suppose one way to look at it would be to use whichever appears on the slide of your particular pistol. Or, look at the actual manufacturer's rollmark on the right side of the frame and go by what that says.

One thing is certain: When referring to one pistol, it is never "Colts."

Currently, I believe for the most part Colt's uses "Colt's" rather than "Colt."

I think I will stick with I have a Colt 1911 or I have several Colts and these are all 1911s and I have a Glock then I got another and now I have two Glocks. Maybe I have a fungus between my toes but it got worse and I have a fungus between more toes.
