I have spotted one of these - now hate to show my ignorance - but not aware if this a COMPACT?????
That is what the dealer has on the sales tag. (I borrowed this picture from the "show off your Colts tread - so I hope I have not offended the owner of the pic)

Asking price is $565.00 if I remember correctly.
The one I am looking at has "M1991" on the left side of frame

Looks like an Officers model. 3.5" barrel, and smaller frame?

Yes, 1991A1 Compact, same as the MKIV Officers with minor differences.

To be clear, the picture is not the actual pistol we are speaking of correct?

For me personally, I think it would have to be as new with box and magazines...

Revised Price = $525.00 + tax = $570 out the door!!!

the finish is in great shape - Medium round count - rails look good - tight - frame to slide - lock up is good.

No box - one mag - hogue grips.

At this point I'm not sure it's possible to balance the collection.

Just to be clear, the correct designation is M1991A1 Compact. It is not "1991" or "1991A1," it is "M1991A1." $525 isn't a bad price, but it also isn't a bargain, and the Hogue grips would knock another $25 off what I'd be willing to pay. But they are excellent pistols.

Halito, all. Longslide...ja, you need to get some balance in yer collection, LOL. That pistol is identical to my everyday carry. If it were me, and it is in REALLY good shape, I would give that for it. Colt's are going up in prices...AGAIN. I would not take 600 USD for mine...but I do have original box. Still, great pistolas are the 1991 series. They seem to take a licking and keep on ticking. By the way, they do not come with the Rampant Colt on the slide like in the pic, but as you said, that one belongs to somebody here who, if I recall, sent it to Colt and had them mark it. Correct me if I am wrong. At any rate...pick it up if good shape. Love the 1911, Massachusetts (do not want to live there) and the forum.

Thank you for that clarity! Yes it is "M1911A1" Matt blued - I am going to seek if I can get it for $525 out the door.

This is more accurate picture of the what the pistol looks like - just with hogue grips and carbon barrel - not SS - is that an issue for me - with the carbon barrel vesus SS????

Carbon steel barrels are preferred by some people, I believe because they are supposed to be more accurate than stainless. In a 3-1/2" self-defense pistol I doubt you could ever see the difference. I have an M1991A1 Compact and it's one of my favorite pistols.

Based on what I've seen, the price is perhaps a little on the high side, but not all that bad if you like the gun and if it's in good shape. (ETA: Missed your update. I think you did okay on price. Well bought.)

But Longslide, you do know, don't you, that it's a gun. It's reached its full growth and is not going to grow up further.
