I have been lurking around for a month or two, but I thought it was high time I say hello.

I have had a Rock Island GI model for 6 or 7 years now(bought it NIB for 230$OTD), but have only put about 300 or so rounds through it. I like the gun, it feels good and shoots good. It just hasn't been shot that much due to a combination of high ammunition costs and my distaste for the stock sights. Most of my shooting is with my Glock 19 that is my CCW gun, a Ruger MKIII, or with my Springfield XD45 which is my issued carry pistol.

Anyway, I got on this site looking for ideas to spruce up my poor neglected GI. I am wanting to put a set of decent sights on it, new grips, and some stainless parts to dress it up a bit.

Not sure on what sights.

I like the look of the Pachmayr American Legend Series grips.

Not sure what company makes a good set of stainless extended slide stop/thumb safety/and grip safety.

Any suggestions

The only problem with the GI is the sights. You might want to look into some Novaks but you would have to get the slide dovetailed for them. Any competent gunsmith should be able to do it. Keep in mine the slide would have to be reparked as well.

I solved the dilema by buying a tactical full size and put a Ceiner .22 kit on the GI. So I can shoot with either the upgraded sights on the tactical or shoot cheap with the .22.
