Hello,
I have spent several hours at the Colt booth talking with several company representatives. They confirmed that the WWI repro (O1918 in black oxide) is no longer in production, this model would be the base for the Cenntenial model that would appear latter this year.
Unfortunately no new series 70 commander this year, although they confirmed that it is on the road (The new Talo series 70 Commander as designed by Wiley Clapp does not count)
The above mencioned New Agent and new Double Action Government model, are totally diferent from the former Double Eagle. The double action only system is good, and the grip contour is nice, please do not critize them without even handling one.

Good news are 9mm Defender/New Agent. Why not a 9mm Gold Cup? They told me that the problem is accuracy, factory testings have not been satisfactory.

One interesting fact is that a new high ride (S&A) beavertail grip safety will replace the duck bill style installed in XSEs, Defender and Gold Cup Trophies.

By the way, the CCO model is back! Yes, the new Special Combat Officers model is on the way!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y117/javichin1991/DSCF2371.jpg
Talking about revolvers, the Frontier Six Shooter is now offered in Nickel plating finish
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y117/javichin1991/DSCF2388.jpg
What do you think of this? Simply the best there is! If it is not a Colt is just a copy.

Some nice additions!
I wonder how good the DA Government Model 's trigger will be? I also wonder how well this model will be accepted now that striker fire pistols own the "DAO" market.
CCO and Series 70 Commander! Now those should have some people stand up and cheer!

What? They can't make an accurate-enough 1911 in 9mm? I've never heard of that before!

OH, nice!
I would love to see the 9mm (or Super .38) Gold Cup!
Great news about the S&A beavertail.

I'll bet that Special Combat Officer's would sell like hot cakes!

The fitted beaver-tail in place of the duck-tail GS is a huge incentive for me.
I'm afraid my tastes simply aren't refined enough to enjoy gazing on that DA model in the light of day. Perhaps it would look better in low light. :D

Is the Special Combat Officers mod. a lightweight frame or does"Combat" mean a steel frame [as in Combat Commander]? Nick

Interesting! I like the Special Combat Officers and the DAO NA. Also the beavertails should attract some more new buyers.

:scared: That DA just doesn't look right without the thumb saftey on it's side. Seems as though part of the gun is missing.....
Would like the 1911 9mm though .... good as CCW.

I want the Special Combat Officers. Love that Colt used the vertical slide serrations with no front serrations. While I am not crazy about the double action models I have to say Colt had the best offerings of SHOT Show 2010.

Great news about the S&A beavertail.
At least Colt already had a Super .38 Gold Cup in the Talo La Patria.
La Patria is Colt’s first Gold Cup Pistol chambered in .38 Super in over 20 years. A little fancy, perhaps, but a .38 Super none the less. The first one I sold was to a guy who planned to use it as a shooter. :)

Did it have "garrettwc's new backup" engraved on one side? :D

True, but it is (was?) priced too close to a Special Combat, I'll take mine blued with "national match" roll marks and hold the gold... make it cost ~1000.00

I second that. I would add a Magwell & beavertail + nice sights please.

I like the duck bill. It carries nice . I don't use a high hold and never will do I don't really care for the tail.

OK. Clear this up for me. Is Colt introducing a 9mm 1911? I dont realy care what do-dads are on it as long as its a 9mm 1911.

Other than the New Agent and Defender, it does not appear so at this time.
On the Lightweight Government Model (O1880XSE) I think picture 3 may be it, the blued ones usually have polished frame flats and that flat frame looks like I would expect an aluminum frame to look.
Also note the the Defender and XSE pictured do not have Champion rear sights. The front I cannot tell for sure, but they look longer than the usual XSE sights which could mean they are real Novaks (with standard cuts? :appld: ) as well.
This is all very good news in my opinion.
I actually might end up with one of those.

Yes, Colt has introduced two 9mm 1911s, BUT both of them are sub-compacts.

Why is Colt the only company that makes a 1911 CCO WITHOUT front strap checkering????
For what the will ask for it, it should be loaded.

Hello,
Agree. I certainly want checkering on any pistol that will pulled from a holster whereas my range pistols don't really need it. Mostly all modern pistol manufactures put a lot of thought into the type and shape of front strap textures.

Vertical serrations are much nicer for me.....plain is good too. I do not like checkering AT ALL.

Hi everyone,
Regarding the new CCO, the frame is lightweight (aluminium), and the rear sight is real Novak (the front sight is champion) both with white dots, the thumb safety is from wilson combat (same used on the Gunsite pistol).
Regarding the Defenders models, these pistols featured real Novak low mount sights.
The light weight Government is rea, I handled one, but forgot to take a pic sorry.

Javi

Hello,
I really like Colts aluminum finish and don't know of anyone who could refinish frame after checkering to match the Colt finish. This makes me conflicted ........checkering with an inferior finish or no checkering at all.......

I for one am just pleased they reintroduced the CCO! Just a few questions for the OP. Are the sights just plain white dot vs. night sights? Is there a carry bevel? And any estimate for an availability date/MSRP?
Thanks for sharing the Shot Show pics and news with us less fortunate common folk!

I presume this will be a Series 80 firing system and very much like the model O9850EU Colt produced in 1998 and 1999 (but without the two-tone finish and rubber grips). Should be very popular.

I have a hard time buying they can't make a Gold Cup in 9mm accurate enough also. Still an interesting report. About time for a 9mm small frame. New stuff to look at as it comes to a gunstore near you.

If everyone will go to m4carbine.net and then go to their shot show coverage page. Click on the Colt page, once you scroll through the ar pics you will see a boat load of close up shots of all the new stuff more than whats on here. Its a Colt shot show porn page.

About the DA trigger. IMO it is alot better trigger than Glock, Smith or XD. DA is smooth and just feels like quality. SA is crisp with a short reset. I've NEVER been a fan of DA autos, but this one may change my mind. Handle one before you form an opinion. Oh, and the Python is "in the works"

After looking at the pics on this forum you can clearly see serrations on the front strap and that area just below the trigger guard has been relieved to allow for a higher hand grip that is typically found on the XSE's. Does not appear to be dehorned however and the grips seem to be of the slim variety. The rear sight appears to be a Novak too.

I'm a 1911 purest and making the Government in DA is just w-r-o-n-g. Why can't they bring back the Python and leave the DA feature to revolvers?

Some people want 1911 ergos, Colt quality, and DAO.
I think Para's LDA has sold a few guns for them.
Perhaps Colt's DAO will sell - perhaps not. I would not buy one, but others might.

Lets say Police or Military say they want a DA gun and no SA guns for duty use. What does Colt have to offer?
Might find that more people use a DA style gun over SA for daily use. Best thing about the new Colt, you dont have to buy it, if you do not want to.
IMHO it fits a set market they need to cover.

Colt can't seem to let the DA style go. Maybe they see something in the market I don't..which isn't hard. ;)
If they do produce them, and they function, no doubt they will sell some to Colt fans. Not a lot I'd bet.
We could all think of additional models that would probably sell more than a steel framed DA auto.
They are missing the tidal wave of 380 auto's...as we speak!!

Me too.
When I first saw it, I thought they were just putting 'their toe in the water' to gauge retailer/consumer response and it will never be produced...more than likely.
They need to show something really different...because it is a "show" after all.
Somebody has an inside "line" of the future for steel famed DAO pistols. :)
Or, they know they don't have the production capability to produce a big seller...like their 380 auto.

While I don't own a DA pistol, nor do I see one in my future; I can understand why Colt would build such a piece. Let's face facts, Colt has a rather limited list of firearms available to you and me. DA pistols are the rage and selling quite well. Personally, I'd would prefer them to start making a line of revolvers other than the SAA (limited though it is). They would just need to dust off the old machinery and start cranking out Pythons, Diamondbacks, and Detectives. I think a 6 shot Detective couldn't be made fast enough. Ah, just wishful thinking. The old tooling is worn out, and a lot of the "artists" that made those revolvers are gone from the company. I suppose making a DA 9mm pistol makes sense; at least from a marketing point of view.
