I just came across a Lightweight Commander in .45 in completely original condition, with some blue wear on the slide from a holster but little evidence of ever having been shot. Maybe a couple of boxes- the finish on the front end of the barrel was solid with no scuffing at all.
Anyway, the serial number is 488XX-LW and I'm too impatient with the "new" gun to date it the right way. Anyone care to take a stab at dating this one?
One more plus- it's very close to my old Combat Commander, the gun I went out and bought on my 21st birthday- my first gun. They make a fine pair, indeed, and I finally, after only about 34 years, have the matching set I always wanted.
