I've been lurking around here for a little while and thought it was time to say hello.
I have a SA GI WW model. It's my first 1911 and the first one I've shot since I was in the Marine Corps (20 yrs ago). I love it and I'm looking forward to getting another (or two).
I'm using CMC mags and had my first issue today. I don't know if this counts as an FTF, but when the seventh round chambered, the eighth round came in behind it (like it double fed). Anyone have that happen?

MAybe the follower is "popping" the last round out of the mag instead of the slide striping it off when its turn comes?

I was thinking the same thing...only it wasn't the last round. I've cleaned the mags and have taken to tapping the back of them when loaded like I did with M16 mags. I don't know if it'll help or not.
Thanks for the response.

Welcome, Those springfield WW II's are very nice 1911's. With regard to you double feeds, I don't know for certain if you are using 7 or 8 round magazines, I have found that the 8 round 1911 magazines cause problems, double feeds as you explained, also most of the time the slide wont lock open after the last round, I have had some great luck with MegGar 7 round magazines, you may want to give those a try, Your double feed sounds to be more of a mag problem than a gun problem, good luck to you,

Thanks for the response and the welcome. Yeah, I'm sure it's mag related. Maybe a stiffer spring will work, or just stick to seven round mags if I keep having problems.
