I had a springfield mil-spec 38 super on order, but it looks like springer has discontinued the model. So I am looking for alternatives. Do the new colts use a ramped barrel? I know the new RIA's went away from ramped barrels, so I am thinking Colt is my last chance.

The Colts do not have a ramped barrel.
Why are you set on a ramped barrel?

Safety mainly. The loads I would be running aren't hot, but a little off the beaten path (158 grain @ 850-900fps). And I do have warm loads for my 686 in 38 super. If one of those got mixed in with the others, I would prefer a fully supported chamber.
Basically, I want a baseline pistol as a platform to get worked over, So I could have the frame cut later, but trying to avoid that step. I would really prefer to stay away from the series 80 safety too. Maybe I will get lucky and find a springer on gunbroker...

I would prefer a ramped barrel on a Super as well.
The only thing I would do is find an older Colt and have the ramped barrel installed, which what I'm on track to doing as well.
