I bought this nice Colt at the WAC show this weekend. It has a few "liver" spots from rust on the left front of the slide and on the bottom of the dust cover. It appears to be unfired since the proof tests.
All in all, a very nice M1911A1.

John,
Out of curiosity, and not specifically for this particular pistol, but what is the approximate price you pay for such a fine example?
Tnx

John, I paid $2,000.00 for it. More than I wanted to pay, however when they come along, you have got to act!!!!!
Besides, they keep making more money all the time, but NOT 1943 Colts!!!!!!!

John,
Thanks for your quick reply, appreciated.
It's amazing how much history a few (thousands) dollars can get you some times. Excellent sample, John, like all the others you have shown us.
Please keep them coming my friend.

Very nice!! I'm glad I don't see guns like those for sale very often, I'd be broke all the time.

John: Are you saying the 1943 Colts are not as collectible as RR's, Ithaca's or later Colts?

NOT AT ALL!!!
I was speaking of WW II M911A1s in general. There is an endless supply of paper money, however there have been no M1911A1s built since 1945. ( I am referring to military examples of course)
For years I was buying surplus military 1911 and 1911A1 parts at gun shows, surplus stores, flea markets, etc. for pennys on the dollar. The sellers would ask me what I wanted all that old junk for. I figured that the last 1911s were made in 1945 and someday someone would want them! Now the same people that sold me the parts are trying to buy them back for 50 times what I paid for them, or more. They have been a lot better investment than the stock market!!!!! I don't sell them anymore. I will just sit on them and watch my investment grow!!!!!
A good example is original double diamond walnut stocks for 1911s. I would buy every set I saw at gunshows for years. Some for $10.00 a pair. They are worth their weight in gold now. Barrels are another good example. I could go on and on, but you get the idea..
(Keep in mind what happened to Colt Single Action Armys and Winchester lever actions)
But, what do I know, I'm just a dumdassed Texan like George Bush!!!!!!! Heh, Heh....
Ah, life is GOOD....
