I have have a 1943 that has been rebuilt with a colt a national match slide and Elliason Sights. As Johnny says this is probably a nice parts gun. I think I've found and early Ithaca slide and some other parts, how far would that to putting it back to where it should be ? ..or should I just start saving for a good collector. It bothers me that I have a hodgepodge 1911A1.

If you are wanting a collectible piece, start saving your money for another gun. Even an Ithaca slide won't convert that one into one. All you'll do is have even more money in it. Yes you might sell the other slide and parts.... but I'd just enjoy the one you've got as is until you find one better, and then sell this one, or keep it as a shooter. Decisions, decisions...
