Please use this thread to ask questions about the pictures selection process and our 2010 calendar in general.

Thanks.

OK so basically we see the eye-candy in the other thread and save our drooling for this thread, right? :D

Pictures to be considered are entered in the other thread and any discussion about the calendar is entered here. There is no need for "Oh, XYZ, what a lovely pistol" etc. Questions only buddy, things that you need clarified.

By way of clarification, I will post here as well as editing John's post in the photo thread that we are looking for presentation-quality photos of 1911s. The judging will be on the basis of the best photos ... NOT the best Photoshop skills. We note that there has been one entry of a "negative". It's a nice artistic effect, but it is NOT what we want for the calendar. Please skip the Photoshop and concentrate on taking the best photo(s) you can of your favorite 1911(s).

To repeat: NO SPECIAL EFFECTS.

Is it permissible to post an image in the submission thread which has a small copyright notice with the understanding that if selected, the larger image will not contain the notice?

No.

An image is either copyrighted, or it is not. The image to be posted here, now, must be the same image as the one that will be used in the calendar (if selected). If it is copyrighted, it is copyrighted. I suppose you could voluntarily waive your copyright if the image is selected but, if you're going to waive it later, why bother to copyright it now?

Perhaps it would help if you would explain your intentions more clearly, and then our legal eagle can tell me where I'm off base.

So, just so we have the advertising, copyright/trademark/servicemark issues straight.

Is any product with a brand on it O.K. as long as it isn't some sort of promotional material. For instance is it OK to use a firearm related item such as ammunition (including a box of) or a holster that displays a readable brand logo?

You can use an ammo box or a holster, but the brand shouldn't be prominent.

How do you post images without linking them to a website like photo bucket? Thanks

John

You can't. The images have to be on a publicly accessed server, like photobucket. Then to show your pictures you enclose the URL in the proper img tags. Read the FAQ section for details.

Can we purchase calendars via PayPal?

John

I would prefer not, Paypal is charging 5% for each payment I receive.
