I have certain likes and dislikes in what I want on my 1911's, I don't like what everyone considers the norm.
Are there any really, really, really, custom pistol smiths left out there.
The last Custom (a light weight commander in) I had built was done by Dave Pruitt when he owned GunDoc in the Miami area, Dave did 4 for me and I have not found any one to replace him yet.
I am looking for someone that will do what I want and not try to push the accepted norms at me.
I finally got my hand on a LW Commander in 38 super and now need to find a Gunsmith to entrust it to.
I have heard that Dave is Gunsmithing again, if any one can verify this and get me an address I would be deeply indebted to them
These are the changes I am looking for.
40 lpi front strap (Normally only done by Ted Yost) I don't need a high cut but will accept it if that is what it takes to get 40 lpi
Millett MKII sights
a mild melting of all sharp edges including the hammer (I carry inside the belt without a holster, have been for a long time) sometimes I use a clipdraw, sometimes not.
a flat MSH checkered 40 lpi
5 lb trigger pull
NP3 finish
install bushings for thin grips
shorten the colt factory steel trigger a little more.
I do not want or need a beavertail.
I do not want or need a full length guide rod.
and I really, really, hate front cocking serrations, one of the worst modifications ever dreamed up .
