Ok, I know this is a rookie move, but when one is reinstalling the magazine springs the small loop always sits at the very top of the magazine and points towards the bullet is facing. Am I correct? :geek:

Yes, you are correct.
And after the follower is in installed and the spring released underneath it, make sure the loop on the end of the top coil is forward, just behind the "dogleg" for the slide stop.

Thank you, just what exactly is the "dogleg"? I am assuming that is where the follower and the slidestop come in contact with each other.

But, it's good you asked. Terminology sometimes gets confusing. The U.S. Army term is probably something like "Actuator, stop, slide, follower-mounted, M1911A1". Kinda like "Pong ball, ping". :D
