So about a year ago I posted a thread, about my friend's dad's US&S 1911a1. He let us shoot and mess around with it. I also mentioned how he got it from his father in law who carried it during the war. Well I was never able to get pics because of camera issues. But just yesterday I learned I could upload pics from my cell phone to my computer so.... now that I know that.... I decided to post the pics I took that day before we took it out shooting.

This is the link to my old thread, which has become to old to let me pics there.

And here are the pics. If anyone can tell me anything about it, I would greatly appreciate it. Like the year it was made or anything at all.

All US&S M1911A1 production was 1943 and appx. 55,000 were built. Detailed, close up photos and barrel markings would be required for any additional information, or opinions.

According to Ordnance Dept procurement records, exactly 55,000 US&S pistols were received in the assigned serial range 1041405 to 1096404.

When you can shoot and upload some detailed photos, we'll be able to tell you more. The thumb safety appears to not be original and finish of the pistol looks questionable to be original. The triggers were bright blue. The remainder of the pistol was originally Du-Lite blue over a sandblasted surface.

It is difficult to say much more without some better shots.

In the second pic, it almost appears that the hammer pin is installed from the wrong side (flared head should be under the thumb safety so it can't come out).

Agreed. The pistol has been detail stripped and the pin has been installed incorrectly.
