Gentlemen,
I'm sorry I don't have photo's to go along with this question, but I've been trying to resize for the last hour without any luck, and I think I've reached my limit as far as patience goes. I will try again soon.
My question is about what I've been told is a factory barrel. On the right lug it has an F, and I think that is ok,but to the right of the F, it is stamped MB. The left side is stamped with a P. Without the MB markings I think I'd be ok as far as original. What do you all think?
Thanks guys,
Mark

I believe the MB marked barrels are "match barrels" Your Rem Rand should have a HS marked High Standard barrel to be correct. Toward the end of production you can find a few F marked Flannery barrels too.

Is the MB mark in a circle? To be stamped with an F and an MP on the same lug is quite unusual. Try to show some pictures of both sides of the barrel lug...Thanks

The barrel is a post-WWII production that has been Magnafluxed and proof tested.

It is not original to the pistol.

Thanks Scott for setting me straight as well......

Thank you guys for the response. I suspected Post war and needed to be sure.
Duane,No the MB is not in a circle, just stamped forward of the F.
Scott, Magnafluxed, sounds like a good shooting barrel. I wonder if someone might be interested in swapping for a HS marked barrel in equal condition? This one looks almost new....
Gentlemen,I will post the pictures I just have to recrute some family member help in resizing......

Welcome to the forum, but careful, if you're looking to trade, you need to post in the appropriate section.

I use http://tinypic.com/ to host photos I post. There is a Resize option there just belown the URL area. All you do is click BROWSE and select your photo. Once the photo appears in the box, click the drop down arrow on the RESIZE and select the 800x600 size for the 15" screen. Then click UPLOAD.

After the image appears with all the different links to select from, copy the image link that starts out with "" and ends with "". Then copy it and paste that link into your post in the text area wherever you want it to appear.

Then click on "Preview Post" to verify your image is there and sized properly. It's easy once you get the hang of it.

You can also view the FAQ section in the top left corner of your screen on the web site. There is excellent info there to help you with posting images.

That might be tough... you probably will have to throw a little 'boot' in with it. As already mentioned, you would have to do this in the appropriate section.

Guys,
If I might ask another question about this non-original barrel. Does it appear to be the type or manufacture that would be used in a goverment/arsenal rebuild program, or might it just be someones attempt at shooting improvement?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

I believe its a post WWII arsenal replacement barrel.

Thank you for the quick response Duane, that sure does bring the question of originality front and center. I now know the barrel is a replacement, I can make it correct, but it won't ever be original.
Thanks again,
Mark
