I ,have a US&S slide and HS barrel, complete GI parts set less GI frame, and would like to build it. I have looked for years for a US GI receiver/frame without any luck. I contacted Caspian and they can supply me with a replica frame. Any suggestions on this build? Thanks Rich

Welcome aboard!
I doubt you will find a genuine USGI receiver, so a Caspian reproduction is your best bet. Caspian is a quality company, so I am sure you will have an excellent receiver for your project. Don't know what that top end might be worth, if it is all original. Sometimes parts can be worth a whole lot of $, maybe even enough for a new Springfield WWII GI reproduction pistol.

I have built several Super 38s on Caspian frames and they are the best of the lot. Keep in mind that the slide rails are a bit oversized so the frame and slide will have to be hand fit.
I have used GI .45 slides on Caspinan frames and even they needed some fitting.
Here is a Super .38 I built on a Caspian frame.

Has any one used a DD frame. I saw an add in there catalog, price was $95.99 thats a good price on a frame. Caspain has a five week back log.I have another build I'm working on, Essex frame . It has some issue,Main Spring Housing loose. I think I'll sell the US&S Slide and the rest of the GI parts. I want to build up a Caspain Recon. Thank Rich

Not familiar with DD frames. Essex in the past has had problems with controlling tolerances and getting the pin holes correctly located. Supposedly the new parts are CNC milled, but that doesn't necessarily mean that their problems are solved.

Correction: the frame is a Double Star, marketed by JT Distributing in Kentucky.

BigRich, I built a stock 1911A1 for a friend in Virginia on a Double Star Frame he won on Gunbroker. It is mediocre at best and most of the parts required fitting to work on the frame. You get what you pay for, IMO.
