I've seen an ad for this RR 1911A1.All I have for the moment are these pictures.I don't even know a price (probably steep). The vendor still has to answer my mail.

The question is,is this a genuine untouched piece? It looks ok to me but I'm far from an expert.
I've found some pictures in another thread and it looks very scimilar, except for the (armoury cross?) stamp on the rear right side of the frame.Maybe it's there but I can't see it.The beavertail seems different too, pointed end instead of rounded.

So what do you think of this pistol? Is it worth the bother or is it a non genuine one.It is in the Netherlands for the moment. So it probably has been in service and left behind after the war for some reason.

Any input is very welcome.I would really like to buy a genuine specimen of the worlds greatest pistol.

It sure does look like a stunner to me too.Not too much abused. But the million dollar question is is it genuine WW2 era and untouched?
I could live with some minor issues but I defenitly wouldn't like a mixup of parts and pieces.

I know you said these were the only pictures you have for now but we really need some close up detailed pictures to see for sure if it's original or not. It may have been refinished at one time but can't tell for sure yet. See if they will send more detailed pictures.

That ammo box looks interesting - I'd heard of steel-cased GI ball ammo, but I'd never seen a box before...

I will try to get some better close ups if the vendor mails me.
What's your first impression on this pistol?

Maybe it comes with the pistol. Is that ammobox that rare?

Maybe it comes with the pistol. Is that ammobox that rare?Probably (not because it steel cased though), but the real collectors will be able to tell you when they see this.

"Evansville Ordnance Plant" : This government-owned, privately-run small arms ammunition factory was open from 1941 to 1945 in Evansville, Indiana. During this time, it was managed by Chrysler, manufacturing .45 ACP and .30 Carbine rounds. Most cases brandished the 'EC' headstamp, except for the small number stamped 'ECS', which denoted the use of cases manufactured at the nearby Sunbeam Refrigerator factory.
