This Colt, #38276 was assigned to the 2nd USS Maine BB-10. It was one of the battleships that was scrapped in the early 1920s due to the Washington Naval Conference of 1922, that set the naval tonnage limits for the major powers.

BTW, the Japanese got around these limits by converting cruiser and battleship hulls to aircraft carriers, which were not limited. We all know what happened later in 1941. Ah well, thats ancient history!

This old 1911 Navy, as we say in Texas "has been rode hard, and put up wet" a few times. However it still is in original condition.
