Remington typically marked their barrels with a "P" proof mark on the barrel hood. Does anyone know if they also used barrels with a "P" on the lug and no proof marking on the barrel hood. Regards

According to Clawson, they used some barrels with a P on the lug only. This was on some of the earlier ones. But by far the majority of the Rem-Umc pistols had the P marked on the top of the hood, seen through the ejection port.

Carefull.... Remington UMC lug 'P' should be on the RH lug side. I went to look at a UMC barrel one time, and the 'P' was on the LH lug...... SURPRISE !!!!!!!!

Thanks......I should have added that also, so there would be no confusion.

Thanks for the info. The P is on the right hand side, and it is in the 2000 serial range. Barrel matches wear on gun, all other parts appear original and correct. Thanks again for the reply.

Sorry, my camera and computer must be mad because they don't seem to want to talk to each other. If I can get them talking again I will get some pics out. Regards
