I realize that import marks can/will decrease valuation of almost any pistol.
My questions:
1. Are M1911A1's importable?
2. If they were imported where could they be marked to minimize "devaluation," recognizing that BATFE guidelines must be observed.
3. I've noticed on the Simpson Ltd website that there are usually a number of British Proofed .45's, presumably imported by someone(?), but not noted as such in description. If I'm wrong I apologize for my error in understanding.

I note that you are in Norway. Are you asking about importation into Norway, or importation into the United States?

Into US. Sorry for not being more specific.
I understand that firearms must go through a US Importer & that involves much hoop-jumping.
I'm interested in whether it is practical to do an import and since the pistol must be marked, what would be best location for that? I saw one M1911A1 that had Simpson marks in magazine well. It was "visible" but not destroying outside of the piece.
Thx your response. I'm Norwegian but not in Norge.

According to what I was told you cannot import former US military arms (including M1911A1's) back into the US. I had an M1911A1 I could have sold in the US for $2k but it could not be imported. The commercial models can of course.
