Hi guys, my name is Andy. Recently I purchased a Springfield Armory Pro
model w/ LR (PC9111LR). Because I am a left-hand shooter, I am having hard
time with the stock R-hand mag release. I was wondering does anyone know
any reputable companies that sells the L-hand mag release for this particular
model? Also, since this is my first high-end 1911 I want to take really good
care of it. What brand of lubricant would be recommended? Any maintenance
tips? Leather Holster recommendation? Type of practice ammo and self-
defense(hollow point and regular)? etc. Thank you very much for all of your
responses. Have a good day.

I'll have to look, but I know someone makes an ambi-safety for a 1911.
I don't care for oil, or anything thin for a lube, as it wont stay in place. Any gun grease will work like Gun Butter, Wilsons Ultima-Lube etc.
No maint tips, just shoot it and have fun doing it!

I think he's looking for a left handed magazine release, Steve. ;)
Welcome to the forum, Andy.

Hi Hero... Welcome! I don't know of a left-hand mag release. It would be neat though. I taugh myself to use my index finger. This works well for me as my hands are small and I had some trouble reaching the mag release with my thumb without rotating my hand on the grip. Just a thought. Good luck.

[1] Don't know anyone making a left hand magazine release. Smith and Alexander used to make an ambidextrous magazine release, but I don't know if they still do. You might check Brownells (see their banner at the top to the page). The left handed shooters I know use their trigger fingers on the magazine release.
[2] For lubricants, see wichaka's post. And he's right about maintenance. But if you really want to read about maintenance, check here: http://forum.m1911.org/forumdisplay.php?forumid=56.
[3] For practice ammunition, pretty much whatever you can find at a decent price from a reputable maker will do fine: PMC; Federal American Eagle; Mag Tech; Winchester in the white box.
[4] For self defense ammunition, pretty much any high quality JHP from a reputable maker that you have determined is reliable in your gun should be up to the task. Some of the top picks are Federal HST, Winchester SXT, Remington Golden Sabers, Gold Dots, etc. Just remember that in choosing a slef defense ammunition the first order of business is to try it out to confirm that it is reliable and accurate in your particular gun.
[5] As for leather holsters, I'm partial to the products of Horseshoe Leather (see banner at the top of the page) and Milt Sparks -- but you'll need to be patient. The top custom makers have long backlogs. For a readily available, commercial holster to use while waiting, check out Galco.

...my hands are small and I had some trouble reaching the mag release with my thumb without rotating my hand on the grip....Most of us do. For a right hander with a 1911, it's pretty standard to rotate the gun slightly. With practice, this can be done very quickly. See http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=70879

I got a Kramer IWB #3 in horsehide for my Springfield 1911. I could not be happier with it and only waited about 2 months which is not bad for custom leather. He also makes holsters that accommodate rails. There is a review of his holsters on the home page of the forum, but I think this is the link:

Congrats on the PRO! Let us know how it does at the range.
I've used FP-10 and Mil-comm with my firearms. Horseshoe Leather and Tucker Gunleather are worth the wait for holsters.
