Doran,

I agree... but is it possible to have been shipped with an unmarked two-tone as well ?????

Mr. Clawson's 3rd ed says full blue magazines started about 719753 but it's possible some two tones shipped late. I usually advise to select a replacement magazine supported by documentation rather than try to explain why a pistol has an early or late variation.

I understand, but Clawson also says, in the next sentence that two-tones were used up to mid-1943 ????? Whatsssuuuppp ???

The book says "remained in service." I believe that refers to a 1943 directive to scrap all two tones when it was thought the older magazines wouldn't reliably hold the slide open. Worn followers and springs likely caused the issue but the govt erred on the side of caution in this case.
