I am researching a M1911. It is a Commercial Government Model. It is 'mostly' parkerized - the safety and mag release are blued typical of guns that have been rebuilt.
The frame is SN C179XXX indicating a manufacturing year of 1935.
The slide is stamped Marina Argentina - indicating it was one of the Colts made for the Argentine Navy. The SN on the slide does not match the frame, again indications of a rebuild.
Here is where I could use some help. The SN on the slide appears to be 1786XX. I say appears to be because the third digit is not clear. It could be an 8 or perhaps a double struck 0. I cannot seem to find this serial number series associated with the Argentine Navy pistols.
