I was intrigued by the report in the recent issue of The American Rifleman on the Charles Daly M5. It looks like a good widebodied 1911.
What has been your collective experience with Charles daly quality and reliability?

Hi, Tony :)

AFAICT, the Charles Daly M5 is actually a 're-labeled' BUL M5.

If CD's work on reassembling Armscor's and FEG's is any indication,
I'd suspect the CD M5 to be a notch or two lower in quality, compared to
the originals put out by BUL Transmark in Israel.

You can check out the BUL M5's reputation on the BUL forum of this site.

the charles daly m5 is great. re badged bul with the charles daly name. Quality appears the same as bul 1911.
Also the m5 works great with the recoilmaster spring system from sti (less perceived recoil, faster follow up)
Other charles daly 1911 are not unfortunately as good (imho), I would rather have one of the new norinco 1911. (325 cdn and forged steel)
