Nothing on Springfield's website that I can find, or in the manual, regarding the use of +P or +P+ ammunition.

I don't use +P or +P+ in any other caliber, but the thought of 124 grain +P+ out of a 5" barell is pretty intriguing.

Any info on this topic? The barell and chamber look plenty stout, but I know some weapons don't function well (properly) on hot ammo. Maybe a heavier recoil spring is needed?

Thanks.

Hello,

Springfield only states that +P is not recommended for pistols shorter than 5 inches. From pages 40 and 56 of the Springfield 1911 owner’s manual:

Note: 1911-A1 Ultra-Compact Pistols are designed
to use standard pressure ball ammo and self defense
loads. +P ammunition is not recommended in pistols
shorter than 5 inches. Use only clean, dry, original,
high-quality, commercially manufactured ammunition.

Thanks, Eric.

I guess I'll see how it functions and go from there.
