Ulf,

Appears to be a pretty nice early example. It looks to have had the rear site changed. Better close ups would help. How are the internal parts .... and magazine ?????

What style magazine catch lock is in the pistol? It looks like the 3rd type, but I can't see it well enough to know.
2nd or 3rd type would be correct, as the transition was at about s/n 6000. Just curious to know which it has.
I'd also like to see more close-ups and have more info. It does look like a nice one.

Second type mag catch lock which is correct, and the rear site now looks correct in the close up, as the first pictures made it look like a flat top.

Now what about the internals ?????

Please include photos of the recoil spring guide, the plug, barrel markings and magazine. It originally had a keyhole mag and the barrel with the serifed H stamped horizontally on the back of the barrel hood extension.

You can also check the recoil spring to see if it fits tightly onto the guide on both ends of the spring, or only on one end (with the other end open). It should be closed tight on both ends.

The recoil spring plug should be smooth all the way around, not punched to lock into the spring.

If your barrel is the correct one, it should have the dark, coarse polished surface and finish with the early shaped lugs which do not allow the link to lie down flat against the barrel. The blued finish on the top fo the chamber almost looks black compared to the finish on the slide.

Looks great. Value in Sweden? I don't know. Here in the U.S. without any import marks? In excess of $5K. How much more? All a matter of opinion. Some might pay twice that.

It's a very nice original pistol. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Why not give us the source for the information so we can check to verify it here? What was the name of the book?Author? What language was the book written in? Norwegian maybe?

Ulfman, That's a tough one. I don't know of anything written here about any such Swedish tests. It may very well be true but like Scott said, maybe you could do a little more research on your end and see what you can come up with. Also, maybe getting a letter from Colt could shed some light on it. You definately have a beautiful Pistol and it is worth doing more research.

A letter from Colt is going to show that it was shipped to Springfield Armory. I can't imagine the U.S. Ordnance Department furnishing another government pistols for testing. I can see where Colt would be interested in opening up a new market for it's pistols, but they would have been commercial models.

Everything looks great! Big congratulations on this vintage Pony! Those keyhole mags are a rare find - very nice. The thin ledge thumb safety is also a rare sight. That old vet is in incredibly excellent shape. Well done Ulfman!
