My 1911 commercial

Okay, I've got to be honest, I got a really nice 1911 Commercial Model a month or so ago. It had the HP barrel but it was nasty, it looked like a lava flow, I sold it to a guy of ebay, he was as happy as a man with two pec&ers, he said it was better than he expected. I put a wilson barrel in the 1911, I worked the hood and took out all of the wilson roll marks, the thing is that it works really well, it's not beating the slide and it fits perfectly, I wasn't expecting for it to work out this good, I do have another HP barrel in better condition on the way. My question is? Can you all forgive me for putting a high tech barrel in a classic 1911 or should I head out to the desert for 40 days and 40 nights?

I'm not taking it that far but, I wanted to keep it origional, but the barrel was really a mess, I'm surprised that the guy I sold that barrel to was so happy with it, I was honest about the sale and I didn't make a bundle on it but it just looked like the bullet would skid down the barrel and not grab the lands and grooves, I know there is a certain amount of origional that makes a gun but I'm sort of torn between origional and one that works, I went for one that works, I guess I'll never be much of a collector of old 1911's cuz if they are broke they really don't trip my trigger, (get it? trip my trigger?)

That's a nice Commercial. I would like to get another one to customize. Unless it is a true collector's item, I don't see any point in not shooting, repairing, upgrading, and/or carrying the pistol. My Commercial was manufactured in 1969, I believe, and I carry it almost daily. I like it as much or more than my Wilson CQB, so why would I shoot or carry it less? When something wears or breaks, I'll repair or replace it.
