I am a new registered usert to the forum. I have lurked for quite a while and have found the knowledge base here very broad and deep. I had a stuation that has prompted me to register and make this my initial post.
I hope someone can help or at least point me in a good direction. My Father-in-law passed away last year. He was a 20 year Navy Veteran and served in WWII and Korea. He had a WWII era 1911 that was pretty cherry. I only saw it once. After he passed away one of his sons took the pistol and ... don't know. Anyway my Mother-in-law came to me the other day and gave me a "box of parts". There was a couple of mags and a barrel with a bushing. The mags are in pretty good shape and the barrel and bushing appear new. They match the diagram on m1911.0rg (http://www.model1911a1.com/barrel.htm) right down to the proof marks. The barrel has no external wear marks at all. The barrel internals are pristine with no rust. The bushing is blued on the external flange and does not show any wear other then the machining marks on the sides.
The mags also match the diagrams and are dirty but other then that in excellent shape. One of them even had 7 rounds of original ammo as best I can tell.
My question - how can I determan the value these items might have. I can take pictures if anyone is interested. I just don't have way to post.
Thanks for the help. Looking forward to participating in future discussion and learning from all of you.
