Just received these from Wilson for evaluation. Nice, low profile, 'diamond' shaped baseplate...doesn't stick out very far at all, in fact, just past the lanyard loop on early 1911 pistol.

Anyone have any feedback on these???...Robert

Mine work flawlessly, but I have only had probably lees then 50 rounds fired from them.

I have 8 ETMs for my SW 1911 and 8 for my STI Trojan 9mm. They are great magazines. No feeding problems, smooth operation, easy loading. I am very happy with them. I don't have a lot of experience with a lot of different mag manufacturers, and with these ETMs, I don't think I will need to try anything else.

What is the general consenus of the best 7 or 8 round flush-fit magazine for the 1911 Government Model, suitable for on-duty carry????

Could really use some input here, as I am seeking a magazine that I can recommend for on-duty use, since the surplus military magazines are now nearly non-existent. I am presently looking at the Checkmate 7 round 'GI' style with 'hybrid' feed lips...Input???...Robert

I would take a look at the Tripp Cobra 8 round mag as it is specifically designed for 8 rounds and not a 7 rounder converted to 8. www.trippresearch.com

I have both 7 and 8 rounders from Tripp and they have been flawless.

Good Luck,

I got 8 of these ETMs. All feeds properly and gives me no problems except for 1. My number 2 (marked at the bottom) is giving me failures every now and then. I dont know how to fix it. I dont even know where to begin. Perhaps if someone could tell me, I could solve it ;)

I bought 2 of the 8 rd. versions for my M1911.
My pistol has a Wilson Barrel and I re polished the frame feed ramp and polished the throat a bit better. Out of the first 20 rds or so I had 4 or 5 FTE or FTF.
None of my other mags give me any problems at all. Brownells took them back without a hitch.

Wilson will replace it free of charge...

I returned the new Wilsons. I still have a pair of older standard SS 7 rd Wilsons that don't give me trouble, but the ones I like best are the ones that I replaced the new Wilsons with - they are the Nighthawk Customs. They are made in Italy for Nighthawk and are beautifully crafted. Not a single issue to date.

I have one that has a couple of hundred rounds without a failure. My 1911 is sensitive to my two 8 round Kimber magazines with FMJ, causing a FTRB on the last two rounds nearly every time. The Wilson Tactical Elite has worked flawlessly for me with FMJ and HP.

I am currently testing the Wilson ETM's and will also be testing the Checkmate and Tripp 7 round magazines...Robert

I have been comparing the Wilson ETM to the Tripp and the Checkmate 8 round. So far, at a little over 300 rounds into the testing, the Checkmates are much better in every respect, including their basic fit in the magazine well...Robert
