My slide stop is peening. There is no damage to the barrel or the link. What would cause this to happen?

The pin that holds the barrel and 1/2 of the link is what is damaged.

1.) What is the thickness of your recoil spring guide head???

2.) Are you using Shok-Buffs in this pistol???

3.) What is your recoil spring poundage???

Hi Forestallflame: :wc: to the Forum!

I'm going to take a wild guess that your slide stop's cross pin is getting peened by the barrel's lower lugs. When this happens, there will be corresponding marks on the lugs (where the link swivels back & forth) showing where the contact's being made.

This area will be forward of the place where the cross pin sits when the gun's in battery.

Please do as Wichaka suggested and post pix of both the slide stop and barrel lugs.

Regards

 I know that you know what you meant to say, but what I'm reading is  as you state there is no damage to the barrel and link and then say it's the pin and 1/2 the link. Clear it up and a picture would help.
