I recently purchased a springfield locking mainspring housing with the intent of using it on my CD 1911 2000 model field grade. Sadly this standard drop in part will not just change out. Short of finding a gunsmith (No smiths local) any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Did you just buy the MSH, or did you also buy all the proprietary guts that go along with it: cap, spring, etc.?

That's my question, as well. The internals are different -- I don't think you can stuff the standard caps and spring into the SA MSH.

You can stuff the standard parts in but the lock won't work...
I've read the lock can cause other function issues also with standart parts installed but the details escape me now.

And you might want to confirm that the hammer strut from a standard gun will work. I took one out of a Springfield years ago, and I think I had problems with the stut.

The conversion only needs the standard spring, cap and retainer pin. Every thing else is compatible. Because the lock won't work with these parts and to make sure the lock stays put I degrease and use Loctite #290 on the lock so it can't turn and polish the spring channel.

i'm confused, did you get this MSH so that you can use the lock? if so, you'll need one of these main spring caps, and the shorter spring.

Sorry for the long delay. I have the whole unit, Spring, plunger, cap, housing. I was wanting to use the locking mainspring housing for the lock. Thanks for the help.
