My M1911 is still alive and well, thanks to new parts and TLC. During the past few years I've purchased more than a few fire control parts from the "leading" manufacturers.
For those of you who, like me, do your own work or are pistolsmiths; who makes the most accurately manufactured and longest lasting sears? I guess I should say that the sear would be used for "tuned" (3-4#) trigger jobs. Thanks!

The EGW hard sear is the most accurate and consistent sear I've used.

I like Nowlins Pro-Match....but EGW's are used by many of the top competition shooters.

I'm glad somebody asked this question, as I've always wondered the same thing.
EGW makes parts for others also.

No I do not, but I have seen the exact same part available under different brands, and sears look like sears so who knows.

I think George himself should answer that one, but then maybe he can't.

I know many of the top competition shooters use EGW firing parts, even in guns from other companies that sponsor the shooter...which ought to tell all of us something.

EGW are the only ignition parts I use in my guns.

Does that include hammer, strut, desco, etc.? In your experience, which sear spring and main spring do you use. I recently used a Wolf sear spring and I was impressed by how well it was formed and how good it felt out of the bag - I left it alone, it was fine. Thanks -

I use Wolff main & recoil springs, but I think factory Colt sear springs are very good, as they are tough and hold their adjustments very well.
