replacement hammer

I'm looking at acquiring an "older" (early run) Colt Combat Elite. It has the "dished" grip safety but the standard gov't hammer. I want to put on a commander hammer that the later guns had.

Do I need a Series 80 specific hammer? I was thinking of getting a hammer from Ed Brown, is there another all steel hammer I should consider?

For an all steel hammer, look at Brown's Hardcore Barstock, and no they are not series 80 specific.

Yup, that's what it looks like, thanks for the info on the hammer. I intend to keep the original hammer so it can go back to original configuration if I desire.
