Last night our cat gave birth to four little kittens. Labor started around 1 am and ended about 5 am, when the last one was delivered (according to Lena, I was sound asleep at that time).

Here are pictures of the new babies.

The first one, I have no idea yet if it is a male or female.

Cleaned and dried by its mother.

The second one receiving the tender care of its mother.

All cleaned and dried.

The third one as it is ... coming out.

All four with the tired mother. She hasn't left their box but for 2 minutes to eat and have some water. Good mother Rita!

Rita deserves a big hand! And Lena too, for staying awake and assisting in the wonderful event!

Best of Luck!

Congratulations John, our best welcome to the new members of your household!

Evi and I have four female cats, all of whom have given birth in the last month... but they keep their newborns hidden, and past experience has taught us not to go out looking for them... we put tons of water, food and milk out though, and it doesn't stay there very long..!

Thank you guys, much appreciated. The newly-borns and the mother are in excellent health. Rita left the babis for about ... oh 5 minutes yesterday to grab a bite of cat food and some water. The rest of the day she spend it in the box with the little ones. She is a good mother, although this was her first birth.
