So, I finally splurged and bought a Colt Gold Cup Commander on GB yesterday. I can't wait to get this beauty in my hands. I bought some other grips for it, but other than that should I do any other mods on the gun or will this hurt the value? I am not a big fan of the trigger!
Thanks,
EA

Very sweet looking Gold Cup there Ericutk1, what are the new grips you got? I would shoot it and see how it does before doing any MODS at all. You may find that it is perfect the way it is for you, best of luck and be sure to post a range report and any mods you might do...T-BIRD.

I would leave it the way it is. At least keep the custom shop logo grips. Maybe put them some place safe.

Very nice! I have the same model, but mine has the spur hammer.

Did you get the Archival letter with it as well?

The other grips I purchased look the same, but are the Colt 150th anniversary grips. I did get the letter with the gun and the original box. I will probably hold off on any mods until I shoot the gun. Hopefully, that will be this weekend. I am going to wait for a NIB Nighthawk Talon that I got on gunbroker for $1900. I am excited about both. Thanks for your comments.

I have been looking at these for years. Not sure about the grips, grip screws, MSH, grip safety, or hammer being original. If you have a letter that all that was done at Colt, then you have an interesting pistol. Any other changes would detract from its value unless possibly done by Colt or a well known gunsmith with another letter. Others may have more knowledge.

Dakota, I do know the gun comes with a letter from Colt.

The grips safety looks to be the old style from King's.

I seen that & considered it, however I am not good with the seller :nono:

Every pistol came from an "estate" sale, is "NEW" yet had a box of ammo through it, seems like every pistol had aftermarket parts on it  which tells me the gent is full of it.

Nice pistol but the Hammer & Mainspring housing don't appear to be stock.

I think the hammer is original but certainly not the grips screws, grip safety and MSH.

These things are easily corrected, tho.

It's a great piece.
