What exactly is the difference between a Colt model #O5070E Gold Cup National Match and a Colt model #O5070X Colt Gold Cup Trophy?

The Gold Cup National Match was replaced by the Gold Cup Trophy.
The GCT has a light aluminum trigger that does not need the sear depressor leg and sear depressor leg spring the GCNM needed with the heaver steel trigger.
The steel trigger on the GCNM along with the lighter mainspring needed the extra parts as insurance against hammer follow.

Depending on the model and finish the sights are different,
You can get the full specs on the GCT on Colt's web site.

Thank you. I always wondered why my GC did not have the extra depressor and spring.

Also at, or soon after the GC Trophys came out Colt stop putting serrations in the front strap of the frame.

I believe hammer is typically a spur type on the GCNM models versus the combat hammer on the GCT model guns.

Until perhaps their last days the GCNMs had the same hammer as on a Gov. Below a 1977 GCNM and a 1988 GCNM.
