Hello all. This is my first post to the forum, but I have had much fun in reading and learning from all of your great posts these past few months. For those of you who already know, I apologize, but I just saw that Colt's new website is up and running. It has been long awaited and is clearly a step in the right direction. Go check it out,
www.coltsmfg.com
Several sections of the site haven't been filled in yet, but it still looks good to me!
I hopefully will follow up this post soon with a few more (including pics!) about the beautiful 1916 Government Model I inherited from my grandfather and my desire to add another pony to the stable. I'm thinking the great looking Combat Elite once they iron out the CNC slide rub issues...

I'm sitting here with my new Colt Custom 1911 in my hand, my El Series in the safe, and Colt Commander customized by Mike Chumelduka and I feel blessed.

No problem on sharing, I've been anticipating the improved site coming online for a while and when it did I didn't see any posts on the subject, so, there you go! :)
I agree, DuckRyder, it's looks professional and well done (if not fully fleshed out yet), finally something on par with the websites of the other major manufacturers.

Wow that's a trip. When I first read the post and clicked on the link. I kept seeing the old site. Then I clicked again a few minutes ago because I seriously thought I was falling for some big practical joke. There really is a new site. Well I'll be.

Just looked at the site.
Pretty nice, but the "shop on line" section is still under construction.
Something I noticed / didn't know...
I didn't see a single 9mm in 1911 type.
Did they stop making that caliber, or did I just miss it?

I saw it about a week ago while they were getting the last of the kinks out.
The new pages should be up soon.
I am glad Jeff finally got the site up and running.

New site looks great! I have to access it directly thru IE since AOL still takes me to the old site.

Outstanding! That's what a Colt website should look like. Lots of tradition and plenty of new go fast modern goodies. Can't wait for the rest of the site to be up and running.
Did some exploring and found this page:
http://www.coltsmfg.com/publications.aspx
Downloadable PDFs of the manuals for pretty much everything Colt has made in the last 100 years or so.
Any yeah Paul, there's a prominent idiot scratch on the Delta Elite photo. Come on guys edit, edit.
Looks good!
Hopefully they'll keep this one up-to-date. I remember the last time they did a new website back in...what was it...2002? They put the new site up, everyone was excited, then they never updated it.
I see they're still using some of the old (bad) stock photos as well - that one of the Defender is terrible! The New Agent picture is much better (since they couldn't use an old one, I'd bet).

That's probably because you likely had the files cached from a previous visit on your hard drive, and your browser, rather than downloading the new content, decided to simply use the files it already had. That happens frequently if the file content changes but the file names remain the same. It just took your browser a second attempt to realize that the content has changed and downloaded the new info.
I found the site to be VERY slow opening up to the Home Page. Somewhere on the order of 30 seconds while the Flash or whatever was built. In today's day and age, that's an Eternity.

Hallelujah! What a breath of fresh air! Now, we just have to hope they don't let this one rot for the next several years!

Great! Makes me very optimistic. :appld:
I found the site to be VERY slow opening up to the Home Page. Somewhere on the order of 30 seconds while the Flash or whatever was built. In today's day and age, that's an Eternity.Yes, it is Flash-heavy, same thing here. Very pretty, but a lot of scripts to run. A lot of people really like Flash content, I am told.
In the "History" section, they mention:
"When seconds matter most, count on the New Agent® DAO (Double Action Only) to provide the backup. The New Agent DAO proves Colt’s commitment to its customers, with the return of a double action pistol. The Colt New Agent DAO mimics its predecessor with a snag free trench style sight, and small, lightweight, accurate and reliable features. With .45ACP stopping power, the New Agent DAO makes for the ultimate concealable carry."
Either I am totally out-of-the-loop, or this is new? Wonder if they will have one in Phoenix?

The huge idiot scratch on the Delta Elite is a shame! Oh well, I'm sure they'll "tidy up" as people point these things out.

Not bad at all. I'm not big on Flash (esp. with my slow connection), but it's relatively unobtrusive.
Great decision in choosing a traditional appearance, with a big nod to Colt history, instead of a more modern tactical look along the lines of Springfield's.
Very smart also to include complete downloadable manuals; that should save CS some time and get the info to the customer that much sooner.
