View Full Version : My aging Combat Commander...

With all the mods I've been doing with the Taurus and Kimber, I've ignored my poor old Commander.
It had a spongy trigger pull and some cosmetic damage from improper dis- assembly by previous owners.
I was going to do a "Poor Man's Trigger Job", but looking at the original components I found them to be MIM or cast, so I decided to replace them with a C&S 24/7 Hammer kit, and a new trigger and thumb safety. I really didn't want to alter any original parts. I also replaced the damaged pins with new.
It's all spruced up now and running great! Please take a look at my post in the Gunsmithing section regarding drop in hammer kits

Thanks Guys,
I'd like to find a replacement grip safety that doesn't have the casting marks, any ideas?

Nothing wrong with the cast marks.

I dunno, the rest of the pistol is so clean and finished, that molding stripe down the middle of the GS just bugs me. I want a direct replacement, not a beavertail or anything like that.

It is sharp. It kind of looks a bit like a grown up New Agent to me.

Great looking gun. I love those Commanders. Where did the grips come from? They look like the grips on my WWI Repro.

The grips came from one of the gun shops I frequent. The owner told me he ordered them from Colt some years ago for one of his pistols, but never put them on. They're Black Walnut, the more I use the gun the darker they get. I like them a lot.

C&S sells a nice Walnut set that is similar.
