I saw this at the local Gander Mountain (I know) and couldn't get it out of my head. I had a bonus coming from work so fate was on my side. Grabbed it this evening and took some mediocre pics using my hillbilly photo rig.
Any info you Colt experts can provide on vintage, etc would be cool. The gun is in serviceable condition but I don't think any collectors would jump on it.
Enjoy!

Thats a very nice looking pistol. You wouldnt want to give a ballpark figure for what you got it for would you? I cant seem to find any like that around where i live even for outrageous prices.

I'm jealous, $1,500- 2K for one of them. Gun Show prices which leave something to be desired IMO.

Nice find, and do put out a shooting report on that puppy.

It was $1399.00 and I kind of felt like I was getting soaked. Maybe not?
Thanks for all the kind words all.

That gun looks clean and correct IMO. The pre Series 70 guns are kind of pricey, but I do not think your price was out of line.

I don't blame you......I think I would rather have your fine piece that something brand new that cost that much.
Don't second guess yourself......a local shop had or has a '68 commercial for 1295 that is not as nice as yours. Congrats!

Did you find what year it's from yet?
I think you got it for a good price.
I keep looking for one from 1955 but they don't show up very often.

Found some dates online. Serial number makes it from 1950.

I would have to look at the pistol close up but my guess is that you are dry and the you did not steal it either.

I also would like one from 1955! It would be nice to have one from my birth year.

That was what I was thinking but there were only a couple thousand made that year so the pickings are slim.

Nice Colt! I have a '52, but really want a '54...
The '52 is an awesome shooter...
