This Colt is posted on another forum. I tried to tell the seller it started as a .45 and someone did a slide swap. He has stated the slide is cold blued but I think there is much mor to it.

What do the experts say?

If this Colt started as a .45 why does it have a MR-Mid Range suffix serial number.
If this was a .45 frame it would have a NM- National Match suffix.

I looked it up on proofhouse.

I looked in R.L. Wilson's "COLT an AMERICAN LEGEND" and the serial numbers listed actually read: 000-NMR, not -MR. I think the book is mis-edited. This frame does not appear to be reblued but the slide does.
Maybe some of better informed members can elaborate on this.
