Plus it has a fat trigger guard! Maybe they have put it on a diet, to correct that, that's why it's not out yet.

I'm with John. From the looks of this model, I think I'll take a pass on it.
Maybe they bulked it up because it is an alu. frame??
This company has made excellent copies of S&W revolvers, how did they mess this one up??

Taurus has put out some pretty good revolvers, but I can wait until I can see the real thing before passing judgement.

I talked to my favorite gunshop and his distributor tells him that the weapon will be available Oct.15th, which is only 5 weeks away. I will order it and give a full range report upon receipt.

I wrote to Taurus to complain specifically about that thick trigger guard, and I received the most confusing reply I think I ever saw. It made the usual obfuscations I get from senators and congresscritters appear lucid by comparison. The long and short of it seemed to be that the guns we have seen in all the photos and magazine reviews (with the thick trigger guards) may (or may not) have been pre-production prototypes, and the trigger guard may (or may not) be different when the gun goes into production.
Oh, and the guns may (or may not) be made in Taurus' plant in Brazil (unless they are made somewhere else). And the people in Florida who sign letters on Taurus USA letterhead may (or may not) work for Taurus, and may (or may not) have a clue what the company is doing.
I hope that clarifies the issue for y'all.

Hawkmoon:
What about my Wilson Combat, MecGar, and Kimber mags.? will they be compatible with this Taurus, if not, who needs it?

Thanks for the update Hawk. As things go the pistol may or maynot be avaiable this year. I'm still waiting to see the new SA in .45 gap. This could fall into the same catagory. New items do show up in Montana, but generally 6 mos or so after everyone else has been shooting them.

No, they are working on a Defender I beleive, 3.5" barrel 1911. I saw pictures from the Shot Show earlier this year, but nothing else.
