Folks, there is a very serious threat that security experts are waiting to attack the Internet tomorrow, April 1st. There is a worm that has been going around infecting people's PCs for some time now. The worm is expected to activate tomorrow in a very strange way, which security experts do not know yet, they make (uneducated) guesses only.

In any case, please do check your PCs.

A very easy way to check if you have been infected by the worm is to try and visit the following Internet sites:

http://www.symantec.com/norton/theme.jsp?themeid=conficker_worm&inid=us_ghp_link_conficker_worm
http://www.microsoft.com/protect/computer/viruses/worms/conficker.mspx
http://www.mcafee.com
If you see that you can not access those sites, most probably the worm is already in your computer, and it's stopping you from accessing those sites.

You can get more information about this worm and its possible consequences here:

I suppose this is too well documented to be an elaborate April Fools..?

I am running WinXP SP3 with automatic updates switched on, so according to your links, I'm OK.

Thanks for the heads-up
