I just replaced my front sight on my CBOB today. I put this Dawson FO sight on the front: http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=23F0000-1094593469

and this Dawson adjustable on the rear: http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=3A50001-1149712617

I couldn't get a good sight picture with the factory Trijicon sights. Not enough "air" around the front sight and the dots front and rear were just too "cluttered". Plus, the CBOB shot high at 7 yards so I installed a taller than factory front sight.

The narrow .100" wide fiber optic gives me just the sight picture I was looking for. (Very similar to the sights on my STI Trojan.)

Just the info i was looking for. Did you install yourself? Did you use a sight pusher or punch?

Yes. I used the nylon tipped aluminum "punch" that Dawson included with the rear sight. They include an all aluminum punch with their front sight and I knew from installing a FO front sight on my STI that this would very slightly mar the sight even though I put electrical tape over the punch.

I used the nylon tipped punch to drive the factory front sight out and to put the new sight in. The factory sight came out with little effort. On my CBOB, the front sight required narrowing the width of the dovetail on the sight. So, I filed and trial fit, filed some more & fit being very careful not to take too much off. This went on for quite a few cycles but I wasn't in any hurry. When the FO tapped in to the half way point fairly easily, I took the front sight out, cleaned the dovetails, coated them with locktite and drove the front sight in.

I shot the CBOB today and the sights were pretty well lined up. I adjusted the rear sight one click to the left and one click down. The sight picture with the plain black rear and the red F.O. is outstanding!

I appreciate the feedback. How hard was it to replace the rear sight. I have ordered the set from Dawson.

The rear sight on my CBOB came out easily and the replacement Dawson installed with no modification of the dovetail.

Dawson sight sets are great - as discussed earlier in this thread a nylon and or aluminum punch is included with the sight(s). For the front sight installation, be prepared to file down the front edge of the sight to fit into the dovetail 1/3 of the way - then knock in the remainder until centered. Took me 20-30 minutes on my Kimber.

I really like the sight picture of the Dawson front sight. Great service and great product by Dawson. You won't be disappointed.
