My dad and I have been talking about doing a pistol safety course for a while and went out for it today. Shot a few different pistols

22 revolver
45 revolver
9mm luger
1911

For my first time shooting, I did pretty well with the 22 (not so well with the 45 revolver)

Here is my target from the 1911.. Took the picture of the target with my cell phone.

You did well for your first outing. Just remember, focus on the front sight and press the trigger smoothly straight back, with only the trigger finger moving, until the gun fires. Don't try to make the gun fire at an exact moment. Let it be a surprise.

Welcome to the forum. Your arsenal is exactly what I brought to the range and shot with my boys a few months ago. How do you like the luger?

Welcome to the forum. Not bad at all on the "1911" target.
My friend Frank gives great advice as usual.

I didn't care for the trigger too much, it was a bit small. There was a strong kick on that one too. The kick on that and the 45 revolver were the worst. :P

Somewhere out there, a Luger exists with a good trigger. I have not experienced this, but surely one is out there! ;)

You didn't say whether the .22 revolver and the .45 revolver were single action guns or something else. Firing any handgun will soon acquaint you with the various recoil characteristics of each type of action. The toggle-action of the Luger, for example, takes some serious "getting used to" as opposed to the straight back recoil of the 1911. However, even that pistol tends to twist if held with one hand.

Good shooting for your first time out. :)
As you progress, remember what Frank had to say, and you'll avoid some of the bad habits that many of us picked up, and had to practice to get rid of, over the years.

Also, welcome to the forum! :)

I do not know if they were single action or not. If you mean did I have to pull the hammer back, no I did not. I'm new to all of this stuff. I had only heard my dad mention that he wanted to get his permit and had to take the course, told him I'd go too, so this was all my first introduction with handguns.
