Hello! Great Forum
I bought my new RIA GI last week. I was playing with it all week, waiting to get a chance to fire it. I did the Shake and Bake with vaseline yesterday. I am very happy with the results. I am glad I did it. judging by the looks of it I would say it is much better protected.
I finally got to the range today. This gun is very accurate! Fired 50 rds and had 2 FTEs. I was hoping to fire all 50 without a problem but I am sure it will improve. Accuracy was my main concern. I fired a couple of rounds bracing my hands on the rest and the first shot was dead center. I was afraid my poor eyes would have a problem with the GI sights, but I actually liked them.
I got to admit the price hooked me, but so far this gun has exceeded my expectations.

I finally got to the range again this past week. 50 rounds of Magtech and not one problem. Needless to say I was very happy!
Posting picture for the first time. Only thing I have changed is the grips.

Pistol looks great Clay. Glad the shake-n-bake worked for you.
I had a FTE and a FTRB the first 100 rounds, so no big deal. I've fired 400 rds since and not a single problem.
What type of grips did you put on?

Thank you oldnrusty
The grips are just checkered plastic but I like the feel of them better than the original grips. They are narrower and thinner. The Amscor logo didn't show up in the picture I posted. Heres a closeup, I hope it shows up.

Nice RIA. I bought on a few weeks ago and have ran 200 or so through it and only had 1 FTF. I am loving these guns and the price seals the deal.

I like those a lot. Where did you find armscor branded grips?
I've got surplus colt plastics on mine, love the roughness to them, pistol feels more solid in my hands.

cbucher, congrats on the RIA! I agree with you 100%.
oldnrusty, I found them on ebay. I have a Beretta 92FS that are known for their wide grips that I like the feel of with that pistol, but the 1911 feels better to me with the narrower grips.

How many rds do you have downwind now Clay? I also love the feel of a 1911 with slim grips. T-BIRD.

Sorry to say I only have 100 rds down range so far. I have been splitting range time with a couple of other pistols and I have been favoring 9mm. A lot cheaper to shoot. Since last time was trouble free with the Rock I may leave the others home next time.
