Last week my best friend and I picked up brand new Gov't Model 1911A1's............quite sweeeet. I can tell you all that after my horrendous H.R. Puffinstuff-ish detour through the land of the evil Springfield I am sheerly GIDDY of the fact that I am back in the land of the Pony.....won't be going back to SA EVER again!!!!!!!!

Here's a pic of "Miss Pretty"

Glad to hear you are "giddy" I'm a Colt person too. although I have had some good experience with Springfield also. Actually I had a Springfield WW II that was absolutely a gem, Yes I traded it for somthing that made me feel "giddier" but I think all companies put out a dud once in awhile. Any way I'm glad you like your Colt, They are pretty easy to fall in love with. With regard to posting pictures, I know less about computers than most first graders, I've posted pictures here, so all I can say is that it can be done, I can't explain how to do it, mostly because I'm and idiot :( when it comes to computers, and maybe a few other things but I'll just stay with the computer thing for now.

Got a funny feeling that it is the URL that is incorrect or there is some sort of security thing that does not allow direct linking to the location of the picture.

I got a funny feeling too, cuz I still don't know what a URL is. :o . I'm telling you that when it comes to computers, I'm an idiot, other things too but lets just stick to computers for now. :cool:

Don't ask me what "URL" stands for, but basically it is the address that appears in the address window on your web browser. Go to where ever you posted the picture of the pistol. You should be able to highlight the address in the address window, then right click on the highlighted address and copy, then come to this board, click the insert image icon and paste the URL into the box that pops up.

This should work unless the website that is hosting your image does not allow you to directly link to the image.

URL=Uniform Resource Locator

Basically, it's an address for anything online. From an eBay auction to a personal website to a hosted file, it's always got a URL.

As far as the image, something would seem to be wrong with the link. I've never used MSN to upload photos, but it's possible that the photo is perhaps on a page that can only be accessed by the user (like your email), or that the link has an error in it somewhere, or that the image has been removed. Never fear, however! There's an easier way of uploading photos: http://www.maj.com/

It was started recently by a guy who started a gallery for showing stuff made out of Legos, several years ago (www.brickshelf.com). Apparantly people kept posting other crap on there, so he decided to sell advertising, and with the additional revenue open up the website to allow more things to be uploaded in general. Getting a link is simple. Get an account on maj, then login and upload the photo you want. To get the actual image link, all you have to do is keep clicking on the image until you can't click anymore. For example, open up the main page, and click on the subsection marked Airplanes. Now click on the picture marked FlyingTara. Click on the first of the two. Now click on the image one more time. The address you see in the box at the top of your browser is the "hard" link to the image. You can use that address on here, or elsewhere, to link to the image. Good luck!

I had a Springfield Mil-Spec .38 Super that was a good shooter, good looking, etc., but when Colt came out with the NRM stainless in .38 Super, I had to trade in the Springer. Whenever I was asked by a potential buyer as to why I was selling, I'd say it was because there was no horsey on it; that was the only thing "wrong" with the Springfield.

ricky B, Springfield does a nice job, but I got to admit, the Horsey makes a huge difference, What's a guy supposed to do? I'd take the Horsey too.

Ahh, there she is. They certainly are nice, I kind of wonder why so many people shop around when there are such 1911's made by Colt for such a reasonable price, That particular model has got everything going for it, and not one thing that it doesn't need, Damn nice.

Why thank you! I truly enjoy this piece...I am making a few changes but almost NOTHING externally visible...I am switching out the MIM extractor, sear, and disconnector and am considering an arched and checkered MSH....but other than that this baby is gonna remain bone stock on the outside!

By the way, I don't feel that the MIMed parts that Colt uses are "bad" necessarily but I am still an old school, FORGED type of guy.....

can't say I fault you for wanting to change out those parts on the inside, I think if you go with an arched MSH you may want to throw in a short trigger too. Short triggers and arched MSH just seem to go together, I've seen a few NRM's with those changes and they look just right.

I'll tell ya, I have been really going around about that MSH business...the arched looks so good but truthfully I find the flat seems to offer me a more natural grip in the one had position and that's usually how I shoot my 1911.....however with a two handed hold I really like the arched....I dunno what to do :confused: !!!!

I wish that someone made a lighter arched MSH that gave me the best of both worlds!
